Description
CMC Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, Herrmann Signature Edition
Unfortunately, Hans Herrmann, who was driving in a promising position in the leading group, had to retire more than halfway through the race due to a fuel cap that spilled on the driver and co-driver. Hans Herrmann documented his appreciation and the outstanding quality of the special edition model with his signature on every bonnet of the special edition.

Description of the original vehicle:
The major annual Mille Miglia event had a particularly attractive field of participants in 1955. Mercedes-Benz had big plans and sent an armada of four 300 SLR racing cars, which were used for the first time. Well-known top drivers were to contest victory against the fiercest competitors such as Ferrari, Maserati and Aston Martin. Half of Italy was on its feet, eagerly awaiting the national racing event.
On 1 May 1955, at 7:04 in the morning, the 300 SLR with start number 704 (start number = start time) and its driver Hans Herrmann and co-driver Hermann Eger leave the start ramp in Brescia to set off on the approximately 1600 km long route of the 22nd Mille Miglia.
Unfortunately, the team had to abandon the race after more than half the distance due to a fuel cap spilling on the driver and co-driver.
The outcome of the race is now world-famous and has gone down in racing history. Stirling Moss celebrated a triumphant victory.
