McLaren F1 (1992) | Limited Edition in Silver 1:8. high quality collector's model made of Resine, no parts to open.
Power, speed and unrivalled quality - the legendary McLaren F1 is a technological masterpiece. The fastest production car of its time. The best sports car of its generation. For many, the greatest super sports car of all time. Beautifully designed and exceptionally fast, the McLaren F1 broke numerous world records in the 1990s and is still the fastest production car with a naturally aspirated engine today. It reached a top speed of 386.2 km/h (240.1 mph) in 1998. Produced in a limited edition of just 106 units, it is now one of the most exclusive cars in the world. Amazingly, it was McLaren's very first road car.
Ingenuity takes time: four years were invested in the meticulous planning, design and construction of this all-conquering machine. McLaren's chief designer Gordon Murray had been developing the 1+2 seat configuration since the 1960s. Twenty years later, his innovative arrowhead concept became a reality. After analysing the performance characteristics of existing supercars, the F1's hand-picked engineering team rethought every element of sports car design. Using McLaren's Formula 1 expertise and an uncompromising design approach, they reduced weight, reduced drag and increased downforce. Every millimetre of the F1 was carefully analysed to create the most exciting car in the world: Each carbon fibre chassis required over 3,000 hours of labour; the accelerator pedal was handmade from six individual titanium parts; the instrument panels were handcrafted and painted, with each pin milled individually. This precision also extended to the driver - as each cabin was customised to the owner.
From Formula 1-inspired telemetry to the ground-breaking carbon fibre chassis, the F1's innovative technologies were decades ahead of their time. Some of the most influential technical highlights, such as the carbon fibre monocoque construction, the gullwing doors, the flat underbody and the airbrake, are still characteristic features of the McLarens today. The 6.1-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine from BMW produced over 620 hp for its size and thus delivered the highest power output. To optimally dissipate the heat generated by this enormous power, the engine compartment was lined with pure gold. To optimise performance, handling, braking and driving feel, the team knew they had to minimise weight in all areas. The McLaren F1 was the first road car to feature a carbon fibre chassis, with weight-saving magnesium alloy wheels and a titanium substructure. To improve traction without adding weight, the team also utilised state-of-the-art ground force technology. The computer-controlled air brakes ensured even load distribution throughout the car and ensured that the F1 maintained stability even under heavy braking - a system that was far more sophisticated than any of its predecessors.
This detailed 1:8 scale model of the McLaren F1 is available in dark green metallic or silver and has a black interior. It was presented to the world public in May 1992 at the Sporting Club in Monaco during the Monaco Grand Prix. The model was manufactured and assembled by hand in our workshops. Detailed colour and material specifications directly from McLaren Automotive as well as our own CAD data, created by digitally scanning an original vehicle, were taken into account. It has also been thoroughly scrutinised by our engineering and design teams to ensure an absolutely accurate representation. Each 1:8 scale Amalgam model comes in a classy black presentation box and stands on a carbon fibre or leather base protected by a transparent acrylic dust cover. The model name, original branding and edition number are displayed on polished stainless steel plaques on the front of the base.
The McLaren F1 is limited to just 199 units.
