Description

BBR Ferrari F40 1987 – Hyperion Blue | 1:18

The exceptional „Blue Chip“ F40 Hyperion was conceived by a prominent Ferrari enthusiast and collector. After many years of owning an original F40, he was looking for a way to make the vehicle even more unique. In 2023, this vision was realised with an exclusive paint finish in Hyperion Blue and a colour-coordinated interior in Suede Blue.

The Ferrari F40 is a historic sports car, manufactured in Maranello between 1987 and 1998, and was later succeeded by the F50. Developed to celebrate the brand's 40th anniversary, the F40 was presented to the press on 21 July 1987 by Enzo Ferrari, Leonardo Fioravanti, and Nicola Materazzi. The public debut followed in September of the same year at the IAA in Frankfurt.

Technically, the vehicle marked a milestone in automotive history: it was the first road car from Ferrari to be extensively constructed from lightweight composite materials. The chassis uses Kevlar, the body is made of fibreglass, the tanks are made of special aeronautical resins, and the side windows of the first 50 examples were made of Plexiglas. With a manufacturer's claim of 324 km/h, the F40 was the fastest production vehicle in the world upon its presentation – a figure that was often surpassed in independent tests.
