This vehicle was developed to celebrate Ferrari's fiftieth anniversary and was considered at its launch to be the road model closest to a Formula 1 racing car. Designed exclusively for pure driving performance, the original dispenses with power steering, brake boosters, and ABS. Instead, it relies on the extensive use of advanced composite materials, as well as design and aerodynamic concepts from professional motorsport.

The exclusive production run of the original was based on market research at the time, which identified 350 potential buyers worldwide. However, in accordance with Enzo Ferrari's philosophy, the actual production number was reduced to 349 units – true to his principle of always building exactly one vehicle less than the market demands.

The 1:18 scale collector's model is characterised by its precise craftsmanship and historical authenticity. In particular, the delicate, precisely shaped rear grille and the accurate reproduction of the engine details reflect the high standard of modelling art.
