BBR Alfa Romeo 1900 RGM Design – Hazelnut | 1:18
Made famous by the advertising slogan „The family car that wins races,“ the Alfa Romeo 1900 marked a technical milestone upon its introduction in 1950. It was the first automobile from the Milanese brand to be produced on a modern assembly line.
With its versatile character, the vehicle combined the elegance and everyday usability of a classic saloon with the dynamic performance of a racing car. This was impressively demonstrated by the model through numerous victories in the touring car class.
Technically, the car featured rear-wheel drive. The gearbox offered four or five speeds depending on the version. While the gear lever was still mounted on the steering wheel in early models, it was placed on the centre tunnel in later, more sportily designed versions.
In addition to success in the civilian market, this model was also chosen by the Italian State Police. Due to its distinctive front end and the typical black livery for service, the historic patrol car received the well-known nickname „Panther“.
