Description
BBR Alfa Romeo 1900 by RGM Design – Marina Blue | 1:18
Renowned for the historic advertising slogan „The family car that wins races,“ this vehicle marked a technical turning point in 1950. As the Milanese manufacturer's first model, it was entirely produced on an assembly line. The design combines the classic elegance and everyday practicality of a saloon with the performance of a sports car, historically proven by numerous victories in the touring car class.
Powered via the rear axle, depending on the year of manufacture, the car featured a 4- or 5-speed gearbox. While early examples were still equipped with a steering wheel gear change, the gear lever was moved to the centre tunnel in later, more dynamically designed versions. In addition to civilian use, the series gained particular historical significance as a patrol car for the Italian State Police. Due to the distinctive front design and the typically black paintwork of the official vehicles, it received the distinctive nickname there Panther.
