Amalgam Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé Chassis 00007/55 ‚The Blue‘ 1956 Test Drive – Silver Grey Metallic | 1:18

In 1955, Rudolf Uhlenhaut designed the 300 SLR Coupé, a vehicle that combined contemporary Formula 1 technology with road-going capability. Although the sports car, which was capable of speeds up to 300 km/h, was never used in official races, it went down in automotive history as the historically significant company car of its developer.

This precise 1:18 scale model accurately replicates chassis 00007/55, which is known as „The Blue“ due to its blue interior. It depicts the vehicle in the exact specification of the high-speed test run on the Munich-Eching autobahn in the spring of 1956. The development of the miniature took over 800 hours. This was based on digital scans of the original vehicle carried out on the exhibit in the Mercedes-Benz Museum. Original engineering drawings, historical photographs and the direct support of the vehicle manufacturer ensured technical authenticity at every stage.

Each model is hand-assembled by a small team of specialised scale modellers. Measuring over 23 centimetres in length, the collector's item consists of precisely manufactured die-cast components, fine photo-etched parts and CNC-machined metal components. The silver-grey metallic paintwork is a faithful reproduction of the historical original. Conceived as a classic curbside model, this miniature features a fully closed bodywork with no moving parts. This design precisely focuses attention on the flowing aerodynamics and uninterrupted lines of the historic coupé.
