Amalgam Jaguar Lightweight E-type 1963 Le Mans Race Weathered | 1:8

The Jaguar Lightweight E-type was created from the desire to compete in the FIA GT category introduced in 1961, and was characterised by an ultra-lightweight aluminium bodywork as well as a modified 3.8-litre XK engine. At the 1963 24 Hours of Le Mans, Briggs Cunningham and Bob Grossman drove this car, bearing race number 15, to ninth place overall and second in its class after a dramatic race full of technical challenges.

This exclusive 1:8 scale model accurately replicates that vehicle and is strictly limited to just five examples worldwide. The focus of this edition is on the authentic portrayal of its racing history: in the English workshops in Bristol, each model was finished by hand with faithful weathering and traces of the 24-hour race. Weathered here means the highest level of detail, exactly reflecting the condition of the real car after crossing the finish line at Le Mans, based on historical archive footage.

The development of the base model took over 3,500 hours, whilst the pure assembly and elaborate weathering of each individual piece require more than 400 hours. Measuring over 55 centimetres in length, the collector's item consists of thousands of precision-engineered individual parts, including photo-etched parts, fine cast components and CNC-machined metal elements. The construction is based on detailed CAD data obtained through a digital scan of an original Lightweight E-type. The model is an officially licensed product of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and was checked for absolute historical accuracy in close collaboration with Jaguar Heritage. Each model is also accompanied by a high-quality giclée print from the Motorsport Images archive, showing the historical prototype in the race.

Note: As the hand-applied weathering effects are extremely delicate, this model requires special care during handling. Cleaning the surfaces is expressly not recommended in order to preserve the authentic patina.
