The 3647GT chassis, which was completed in June 1962, was originally intended for Col Ronnie Hoare's Bowmaker racing team in England. John Surtees drove it very successfully until he suffered a serious accident at Goodwood in August. After rebuilding, the car was sold to a French-based Prince Zourab Tchkotoua from Russia, who used it for special events but had another serious accident at Goodwood in 1963, almost a year later to the day. After the second rebuild, chassis 3647GT was raced at smaller events in Italy before the car was sold to the United States.
