The 849 Testarossa Spider uses the SF90 Spider as its technical basis and focuses on a significant increase in performance, mechanical grip and responsiveness. At the heart of the development were the optimisation of the braking system and the evolution of the electronic vehicle control via the new digital Ferrari Integrated Vehicle Estimator (FIVE) system.

Lateral dynamics have been significantly increased compared to the base model through newly developed tyres and a specific suspension setup. This includes a 35 per cent weight reduction in the suspension springs. A 10 per cent reduction in roll angle maximises aerodynamic efficiency and dynamic wheel camber. The increased longitudinal acceleration is the result of an optimised power-to-weight ratio, the increased performance of the combustion engine in the upper rev range and a specially tuned power delivery. The direct response in the low rev range is consistently maintained.
