The template of this model is characterised by its specific extra-boost control strategy, which uses the capacities of the electric drive system to temporarily generate an additional power output. This function is exclusively available in the so-called ‚Qualify‘ setting of the eManettino switch. Its primary purpose is to deliver a targeted burst of power when accelerating out of bends and thus measurably reduce lap times on the track.

On the instrument panel, a curved display to the right of the rev counter continuously informs the driver about the hybrid system's remaining energy reserve. In practice, the capability of this technology can be demonstrated using specific track data: on the circuit in Fiorano, the extra boost can be deployed up to 14 times over a distance of two laps. On the Mugello track, the system control permits a total of 15 boost intervals within a single lap.
