The 458 Spider is strongly based on its loud, expressive brother, the 458 Italia. It is the first mid-engined convertible to have a folding roof made entirely of metal. According to the Maranello giant, this is a world first. The roof can be closed within 14 seconds. Significantly poorer road holding and reduced aerodynamics are perhaps normal for a Spider or an „open“ version of any car. But this was clearly not the case with the 458 Spider. It was reportedly only 0.5 seconds slower on Ferrari's Fiorano test track.

This Ferrari with its 4.5-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine has sensational steering behaviour, lateral grip and cornering stability. Autocar magazine wrote: „Hearing the 4.5-litre engine at 9000 rpm is like hearing the Almighty roar at you through a rolled-up newspaper“. This 1:8 scale model of the Ferrari 458 Spider was hand-built in our workshops. We received the kind support of Ferrari itself in terms of original paintwork, materials and CAD data. In addition, the model was scrutinised by the Ferrari technical and design teams to ensure complete accuracy of representation.
