The 812 GTS is the first V12 Ferrari Spider in 50 years and the convertible version of the 812 Superfast. Like the historic predecessors that influenced its creation, the 812 GTS sets new standards in terms of performance and exclusivity. It is not only the most powerful production spider on the market, but also the most versatile thanks to its retractable hardtop. The 812 GTS is a triumphant return for a model type that has played a decisive role in Ferrari's history. The front-mounted V12 architecture has not been used in a Ferrari production spider since the 365 GTS4 „Daytona“ Spider.

The 812 GTS shares the masterpiece V12 engine of the 812 Superfast, which has the most powerful engine in its class. With 789 hp, the V12 can launch the GTS from 0 to 100 km/h in less than three seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in just 8.3 seconds, despite the extra weight of the retractable roof. The Spider retains the top speed of the Berlinetta, namely 340 km/h.

The 718 Nm of torque guarantees impressive acceleration, while the exhilarating rev limit of 8900 rpm ensures sporty driving. These performance levels have been achieved partly through the optimisation of the engine design and partly through innovations such as the use of a 350 bar direct injection system and the variable geometry intake port control system developed on naturally aspirated F1 engines. These systems made it possible to use the displacement of the displacement from 6.2 to 6.5 litres to maximise power output while maintaining excellent pick-up even at low revs. Particular attention has also been paid to the calibration of the Manettino settings to enhance the engine's potential and the feeling of extreme performance of the vehicle. Nevertheless, the driver can always easily and safely dose the massive torque available with the accelerator pedal thanks to the smooth, progressive power delivery at all engine speeds. With regard to the exhaust gases, the harmonics of the combustion sequence have been prioritised by modifying the geometry of the central extension pipes. All pipes in the 6-in-1 exhaust manifold to the monolithic catalytic converter are the same length. This optimises the sound by allowing the first-order combustion harmonics to predominate. The result is a full-bodied V12 sound in the cabin in all driving modes, which is particularly noticeable when the roof is open.

The aim in developing the 812 GTS was to retain the thrilling sense of speed and performance of the Superfast version in terms of acceleration, response times and agility. The 812 GTS is equipped with all the components and control systems of the new generation 812 Superfast and offers equally impressive handling. In terms of pure aerodynamic performance, the careful redesign of the surfaces of the tarpaulin and, above all, the integration of a triple-decker wing in the rear diffuser ensured efficient extraction (and therefore downforce) of the underbody. The aerodynamicists were able to compensate for the downforce lost by removing the bypass duct of the rear wheel of the 812 Superfast, whose air intake was located behind the quarter light.

In fact, the entire rear of the car has been redesigned, with the addition of two buttresses under which the roof movement mechanism is tucked. The buttresses were designed to visually embody a sense of forward thrust and give the side windows a distinctive, sleek yet balanced look that would set the Spider apart from the Berlinetta. The draped design of the flanks visually shortens the rear end and is characterised by sharply sloping crease lines and impressively muscular wheel arches, giving it the power and aggression guaranteed by its imposing V12. Carefully detailed work has been carried out to shape the frontal aerodynamics and ensure outstanding comfort on board with the top down, with a particular focus on minimising turbulence and aerodynamic noise.
