Description

Amalgam Bugatti Type 59 1935 Belgian Grand Prix Jean-Pierre Wimille Figure Edition – Blue | 1:8

The Bugatti Type 59 is considered the French marque's last successful Grand Prix car and a historical masterpiece of engineering by Ettore and Jean Bugatti. At the 1935 Belgian Grand Prix in Spa-Francorchamps, Jean-Pierre Wimille piloted this very car, which made motorsport history with its low, sleek bodywork and distinctive wire-spoke wheels.

This exceptional 1:8 scale model captures the racing car with the highest level of craftsmanship and is limited to just five examples worldwide. A special feature of this edition is the included driver figure of Jean-Pierre Wimille, which is approximately 22 centimetres tall. This was digitally sculpted, manufactured using 3D printing and elaborately hand-painted, to accurately reflect the driver's physique and historic racing attire.

The model car itself was developed over 5,000 hours based on original CAD data, obtained through a detailed scan of the real chassis from Ralph Lauren's collection. The artisanal assembly of each individual example takes more than 500 hours. The replica consists of thousands of precision-manufactured individual parts, including high-quality cast components, photo-etched parts, and CNC-milled metal elements. Thanks to the removable bonnet the meticulously recreated straight-eight engine can be examined in all its technical facets. The exclusive collector's item is rounded off by the true-to-original paintwork, the colour codes of which come directly from Bugatti's historical archive.
