Amalgam FERRARI 250 GTO - 24 HOUR RACE OF LE MANS 1962

The end of a revered bloodline, only 36 250 GTOs were produced from 1962 to 1964 and these cars are perhaps the most coveted classics of all time. The nickname GTO is actually a nickname coined by the British press during this period, with the „O“ referring to „omologato“ or „homologation“ in English. The GTO was known at the factory simply as the Comp.62. Surrounded by intrigue and folklore, none of the 36 cars were identical. The bodies were all hand-beaten in Scaglietti's workshops with aluminium over a wooden frame, but that's where the similarity ended.

The first 18 cars were supplied with the rear spoiler as a separate component to be retrofitted to the body. The radiator sizes differed between the examples, as did the number of channels on their bodies and there were various other notable technical and cosmetic differences.

This model is number 19, the winner of the GT class of 24 Heures Du Le Mans 1962, driven by Pierre Noblet and Jean Guichet. The pair won the class with aplomb and finished on the overall podium. Ferrari continued this winning streak in every subsequent round, resulting in Ferrari winning the championship with a maximum score of 45 points.

This fine 1/18th scale model of the Ferrari 250 GTO has been handcrafted and finished in our workshops with the co-operation and support of Ferrari in terms of original finishes, materials, archive images and drawings. The use of highly accurate digital scans of the original car has enabled us to perfectly replicate every detail in scale. In addition, it has undergone detailed scrutiny by both engineering and design teams to ensure complete representational accuracy.

Each 1:18 scale Amalgam model is supplied in a luxurious black box with a protective outer carrying case. Each model is mounted on a polished black acrylic base protected by a clear acrylic dust cover. Inside the base is a booklet containing the certificate of authenticity as well as information and accompanying material about the car. The model title and original branding are displayed on a polished stainless steel plaque at the front end of the base.
