Amalgam Ford GT40 1969 Le Mans Winner Race Weathered – Blue / Orange | 1:18
This vehicle with chassis number 1075 wrote motor racing history when it won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1969 with Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver at the wheel in one of the closest finishes of all time. Remarkably, it was the exact same chassis that had already achieved overall victory at the Sarthe the previous year.
The 1:18 scale model presented here captures the physical traces of this legendary race with the utmost precision. Developed over more than 800 hours, it is an exact replica made from the finest cast parts, photo-etched parts and CNC-machined metal components. Using historical photographic material and in close cooperation with the Ford Archive and Heritage Department as well as Gulf Oil International, every component has been meticulously reconstructed.
An essential feature of this edition, which is limited to just 250 copies, is the elaborate Weathered-Paintwork. Model-making specialists in Bristol apply the grime, oil and wear and tear of the 24-hour race by hand with meticulous precision, ensuring that each piece accurately reflects its post-finish-line condition. This sealed curbside model deliberately dispenses with opening parts in order to present the flawless body lines of the historic Gulf livery without interruption. In addition, the model is supplied with a high-quality A2 giclée art print showing the original vehicle in the pit lane after its victory. Due to the intricate hand-painting of the patina, the surface requires extremely careful handling.
