The Mercedes-AMG ONE offers unadulterated Formula 1 technology for the road and lays claim to being the most fascinating two-seater ever to hit the road. As the world's first commercially available F1 hybrid-powered, road-legal vehicle, the ONE is a true performance hybrid that marks the pinnacle of what is currently technically feasible. It is a celebration of unprecedented success in motorsport's premier class and AMG's 50th anniversary, but also a compelling insight into the future of motoring at Mercedes-AMG.

The ONE's hybrid powertrain is accompanied by a purely electric and wheel-selective front axle drive concept and is expected to develop a combined system output of more than 1,000 hp (735 kW) and top speeds of over 218 miles per hour (352 km/h). . The components of this highly efficient and powerful plug-in hybrid drive system called EQ Power+ in the Mercedes-AMG Project ONE are based directly on Formula 1 and were realised in close cooperation with the motorsport experts from Mercedes-AMG High Performance powertrains in Brixworth. This is a highly integrated and intelligently networked unit consisting of the 1.6-litre V6 hybrid petrol engine with a total of four electric motors - one was integrated into the turbocharger, another was installed directly on the combustion engine with a connection to the crankcase and the two remaining motors drive the front wheels.

The consistent design of the Mercedes-AMG ONE is based on a simple principle: form follows function. Every design detail offers a specific benefit for the overall performance of the vehicle. The muscular proportions are based on the mid-engine concept. The cockpit, which is set far forward, the large wheel arches and the wasp waistline with a sweeping rear end are clear indications of the car's motorsport origins. The large black front spoiler with air intakes extending across the entire width of the vehicle dominates the front view. Flat LED headlights blend seamlessly into the body contours. The dynamic roofline has an air intake that merges elegantly into the vertical shark fin. The design of the exhaust pipe with a large round outlet and two other small openings is directly modelled on that of Formula 1 cars. The highly functional design gives the vehicle a striking, unmistakable character that is unrivalled in this form and aims to evoke the feeling of a real race and offer an unparalleled experience.

The interior offers an authentic Formula 1 feel and combines performance and functionality. The colours and materials chosen for the interior are inspired by the Formula 1 racing car. The ergonomically shaped interior with two bucket seats is characterised by a futuristic, minimalist style and innovative materials. The pedals and the Formula 1-style steering wheel can be adjusted as required. The centre tunnel visually separates the driver and passenger areas and is a functional component of the carbon fibre support structure. It blends skilfully into the monocoque architecture. The sculptural racing seats create an unmistakable association with motorsport. The seat surfaces are covered with nappa leather in magma grey and inlays made of sporty textile mesh. The yellow contrasting topstitching is also a striking AMG feature.

With a price tag of $2.72 million each, only 275 units of the Mercedes-AMG ONE are to be built, despite an ever-growing waiting list that is reportedly four times as high to maintain the hypercar's exclusivity. Delayed by the global pandemic, production of the car began in August 2022 and it is expected to be the most outstanding road-legal racing car to come out of Affalterbach.
