Amalgam Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing 1:18

Please note that the image above is a compilation. Images of the 1:18 scale model will be displayed as soon as they are available.

Another exciting project for 2025 is the 1:18 scale Mercedes 300SL Gullwing. The first prototype is finished in the same silver and tan leather as our 1:8 scale model and is scheduled for completion in early Q2. The first production run is expected to be ready before mid-year. Register your interest to be the first to know about the availability of these models.

The idea behind this watered-down W194 Grand Prix car, introduced in 1954, was the brainchild of New York Mercedes dealer Max Hoffman, the official importer of Daimler-Benz in the United States. He believed that such a car would appeal to wealthy American high-performance fans. The new 300SL was subsequently unveiled at the 1954 New York Auto Show, rather than at the Geneva or Frankfurt motor shows where Mercedes traditionally presented its new models. With a top speed of 217 km/h and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in around 8.8 seconds, the 300SL was the fastest production car of its time. It was also the first mass-produced model with fuel injection, which doubled the power output from 115 to 212 hp. The 300SL was an instant success and became famous for its distinctive „gullwing doors“. Around three quarters of the examples produced by the German manufacturer were sold on the US market, confirming the genius of Max Hoffman's original idea.

This beautiful 1:18 scale model of the Mercedes-Benz 300SL has been handcrafted and finished in our workshops, with the collaboration and support of Mercedes regarding original finishes, materials, archive imagery and drawings. Through the use of highly accurate digital scans of the original car, we have been able to replicate every detail at scale. Furthermore, it has undergone thorough scrutiny by the engineering and design teams to ensure complete representational accuracy.

Note: This is a „notcheside“ model and has no moving parts.
