Amalgam Porsche 917K 1971 Daytona Winner Gulf Livery Race Weathered – Light Blue/Orange | 1:8
The Porsche 917K is a historic motorsport legend and secured dominance for the German marque in the World Sportscar Championship in the early 1970s. This exclusive 1:8 scale model accurately replicates the winning car with race number 2, driven by Pedro Rodríguez and Jackie Oliver at the 1971 24 Hours of Daytona.
The production of this collector's piece, limited to just 10 examples worldwide, demands the utmost precision. Each model, measuring over 51 centimetres in length, is assembled by hand by a small team of specialist artisans and intricately patinated. The development of the base model took over 4,000 hours, while the construction and precise weathering of each individual vehicle take a further 450 hours. The grime and signs of race use are meticulously applied by hand at the Amalgam studio in Bristol based on historical photographic material.
The model consists of thousands of precisely manufactured individual parts, including fine cast components, photo-etched parts and CNC-machined metal elements. High-precision digital scans of an original Porsche 917K and official manufacturer paint codes served as the basis for the design. Thanks to the opening doors and the exposed rear section, the complex interior of the vehicle, including the detailed flat-12 engine, can be studied closely. Important notice: The authentic patina of these models is delicate and requires careful handling. Each item comes complete with a high-quality archival giclée print showing the original vehicle during the race.
