BBR Ferrari 250 GTO Prototipo Monza Test 1961 Willy Mairesse – Stirling Moss | 1:18

In 1960, Enzo Ferrari commissioned his chief engineer Giotto Bizzarrini to develop a compact, light, and fast sports car for the 1962 World Sportscar Championship. As the new regulations focused on GT vehicles, Bizzarrini used the proven three-litre V12 engine from the 250 series. Based on chassis number 1791 GT, which originally belonged to a short-wheelbase 250 GT, a first prototype was created in record time.

This historic vehicle was completed by mid-August 1961 and shortly thereafter underwent intensive stress tests at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. Alongside Willy Mairesse, Stirling Moss also drove the car during Formula 1 practice sessions. With a remarkable lap time of 1:45.4 minutes, the concept proved its high potential and prompted Enzo Ferrari to state that no GT vehicle had ever been able to position itself ahead of the single-seaters before.

This 1:18 scale miniature accurately and factually depicts the historically significant prototype. From the contemporary interior details and the precise body lines to the specific paintwork of the test car, the original has been authentically recreated.
