The Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, which came onto the market in 2003, was a direct development of the Ferrari 360 Challenge, the racing car from the Ferrari Challenge one-make championship. The idea was clear: to transfer the driving experience and performance of a racing car to the road.

A central starting point was weight reduction. The Challenge Stradale was around 110 kg lighter than the 360 Modena thanks to the extensive use of lightweight materials such as carbon fibre. It was available in a limited range of colours, whereby the classic Rosso Scuderia was often combined with the longitudinal centre stripe, which was reminiscent of Ferrari racing cars.
