BBR Ferrari 410 Superamerica Series III SN 1387 SA – Dark Metal Blue | 1:18
This exclusive vehicle was originally aimed at an elite clientele who demanded the highest driving performance combined with uncompromising luxury. Presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 1958, the Series III represented the final evolutionary stage of the model. It marked the technical peak in the development of the car, which was designed by Aurelio Lampredi. „V12 “long block' engines for road vehicles. Production ran for a very short period until June 1959 before the successor series came onto the market.
Only 12 Series III examples were produced. All were fitted with bodies by Pinin Farina understood and delivered to a select circle of industrialists, celebrities, and significant automobile collectors.
In the summer of 1960, Peter Van Gerbig acquired the exact prototype of this miniature model with the Chassis number 1387. He had the car returned to the factory immediately after purchase to have the standard seats replaced by Scaglietti for special bucket seats based on those of the racing 250 GT Berlinetta (SWB). These offered the tall owner significantly improved ergonomics. As part of this historic factory conversion, the entire interior was elaborately reupholstered in red leather.
