The Ferrari 458 Speciale A (where „A“ stands for „Aperta“) is considered the consistent evolution of the 458 series with a naturally aspirated V8 engine. This technical direction makes the vehicle one of the most sought-after models for collectors of modern automotive history.

The model was presented as a strictly limited edition at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. With a worldwide production number of just 499 units, this open-top variant is considerably rarer than its coupé counterpart.

The body shape of the Speciale A is characterised by complex aerodynamics, the lines of which were significantly developed in the wind tunnel. Moving front flaps direct the airflow to the coolers or reduce air resistance, while a motorised rear flap precisely balances downforce at high speeds. Equipped with a retractable aluminium hardtop, the original's roof opens in just 14 seconds. Despite the elaborate roof construction, the vehicle weighs only 50 kilograms more than the closed version.
