Description
BBR Porsche 356A Carrera Panamericana 1954 Asociación Guatemalteca Car No.162 – White | 1:18
The driver of this historic vehicle was Manfredo Lippmann, a pioneer of Porsche racing in Central America. Although his participation in the arduous, 3,000-kilometre Carrera Panamericana was cut short by an accident, Lippmann established himself as a significant figure in the Porsche community and became one of the best-known collectors in the region. The model with racing number 162 is presented in its original white paintwork, accurately executed with the lettering „Asociación Guatemalteca“ and the distinctive numbers from that era.
The Carrera Panamericana, a legendary Mexican road race, held such high motorsport relevance for the Stuttgart-based car manufacturer that the name „Carrera“ was later adopted as the designation for the brand's most powerful models and engines. To withstand the extreme stresses of the rough Mexican roads, the racing vehicles were consistently weight-reduced and specially prepared. Authentic modifications replicated on this model include characteristic leather straps to secure the front bonnet, stone chip protection grilles over the headlights, and a reinforced chassis.
