The car shown was delivered to the NART team (North American Racing Team) of Luigi Chinetti (New York, USA) in October 1962 and took part in the 1000 km of Paris in Monthléry a week later with drivers Pedro and Ricardo Rodriguez, where it finished first overall. In December of the same year, it was sold to Roger Penske, who also very successfully achieved many first places and top positions in various races. Particularly noteworthy is the 4th place overall and the class victory in the GT3 class at the 12 Hours of Sebring in March 1963.
After countless changes of ownership, the vehicle has been in perfect condition in Ralph Lauren's high-calibre collection since 1985.

The 3987GT chassis with the starting number #1 used by Luigi Chinetti's North American racing team (N.A.R.T) won the overall victory in its 1000 km debut in Paris on 21 October 1962 with Pedro and Ricardo Rodriguez at the wheel. It was soon sold to the Mecom Racing Team, which raced it with considerable success and well-known drivers such as Roger Penske, Augie Pabst and Richie Ginther. After several changes of ownership in the 1970s and 1980s, the car was acquired by the current owner in 1985. CMC shows # 3987GT in the specification of the first victory.
