Description
CMC Lancia D50, 1954-55
Lancia cars have always been known for innovation, both in production vehicles and motorsport models. The D50 was no exception to this tradition. Gianni Lancia gave Vittorio Jano complete freedom in the design of the first ever Formula 1 entry. The ultra-modern, partly revolutionary design of the vehicle promised fame and honour for the entire Lancia company. However, after the fateful events surrounding Alberto Ascari, Gianni Lancia turned his back on motorsport for a long time.
