Description of the Mercedes-Benz 300d original vehicle:
In April 1951, Daimler-Benz presented the Type 300 at the IAA in Frankfurt, the largest and fastest series-produced German car at the time.
Even back then, this model was the favourite vehicle of celebrities from the worlds of politics, business and film. Federal President Theodor Heuss and Economics Minister Ludwig Erhard were chauffeured in the 300. However, the vehicle became famous as the „Adenauer Mercedes“, as Germany's first Chancellor attached great importance to being driven in a Mercedes-Benz 300.
Adenauer's first 300 from 1951 can be admired today in the „House of History“ in Bonn, his last car from 1955 in the Mercedes-Benz Museum.
In August 1957, the Mercedes-Benz Type 300 was launched on the market as the modernised 300d version, which was also available as the Cabriolet D from July 1958.
