Description of the original vehicle:
However, equally significant was the role of the racing transporters, which ensured the safe and reliable transport of the valuable racing cars to circuits across Europe. They were highly influential in public perception and underscored the brand's impressive competitive spirit.
At that time, Mercedes-Benz provided a proven 2 ¾-tonne truck from its own Gaggenau plant for transport, the LO 2750 type. Due to its low-floor design and the low-lying loading platform, it was particularly well-suited for loading and unloading the Silver Arrows. A reliable and economical 4-cylinder diesel engine with 65 hp ensured safe and punctual transport to the race track.
Very soon, the typical Mercedes-blue painted vans with the lettering „Mercedes-Benz Rennabteilung“ on the tailgates became an integral part of the works transport and supply chain, and were indispensable to the Grand Prix racing scene.
Time and again, the transport armada returned to Stuttgart as celebrated victors. With tarpaulins removed and tail lifts lowered, the victorious vehicles loaded aboard were proudly presented to the local population in a lorry parade. Because of the significance of these vehicles, it was a challenge for CMC to honour these historically important transporters of the pre-war MB Silver Arrows in the form of an authentically recreated CMC high-end model.
