Original vehicle history:

Richard „Dick“ Seaman, born in 1913, was one of the most talented British racing drivers of that era in the pre-war period. This did not go unnoticed by the Daimler-Benz house, and Alfred Neubauer, the then racing manager of Mercedes, signed Dick Seaman as a works driver in 1937. Seaman was thus included in the crew as the fourth driver, alongside the regular drivers Caracciola, von Brauchitsch and Lang.
July 24th, 1938 was to be a shining moment for Dick Seaman in the truest sense of the word. On this day, the German Grand Prix was held at the Nürburgring in front of approximately 350,000 spectators. Dick Seaman won this race after a highly dramatic course of events in a Mercedes-Benz W154 with start number 16 and a green-painted radiator grille as a clearly visible distinguishing feature of his car.
Dick Seaman could be proud of this achievement, which he had more than earned through his driving skill and composed demeanour.
Just under a year later, in 1939 at the Spa race, destiny befell the young, likeable racing driver. Leading by a wide margin in torrential rain, he suffered an accident that had fatal consequences for him. So much for the CMC Mercedes-Benz W154 Seaman.
