In Focus: The Ferrari 250 LM – Market Saturation or Collector's Opportunity?

A particularly precise analysis we have of the series of Ferrari 250 LM dedicated. Usually, the highly detailed Ferrari models from CMC are a guarantee of quick price increases. However, current data show a different picture: Almost the entire LM series is currently trading slightly below its debut price.

A prominent example is M-263 (CMC Ferrari 250 LM, 1st at Le Mans 1965, #21). Although the model is completely sold out from the factory, the secondary market does not yet reflect a premium:

  • Original debut price 703 €

  • Ø-Market Value 12 Months 706 €

  • Market value 3 months: 672 €

  • Current developments since debut: -4,5 %

Our expert assessment: This strongly suggests a temporary market saturation in the high-priced Ferrari segment. Early buyers or speculators are currently offloading their allocations, marginally undercutting each other (visible in the declining 3-month average). It's a typical, completely normal consolidation phase for new releases.

For you as a collector, this means specifically: The window for purchase is now. Experience suggests it takes 18 to 24 months for the secondary market to be „bought out“ in such phases – after which prices for icons like the 250 LM typically rise inevitably. Those who have been eyeing the legendary Le Mans winner anyway will currently find ideal purchasing conditions.
