The extra boost function is exclusively in Qualify mode the manettino. Their goal is to deliver a targeted power boost when accelerating out of corners, thereby measurably reducing lap times. The driver is continuously informed about the remaining energy reserve via a curved display in the instrument cluster, directly to the right of the rev counter.

The practical efficiency of this system is impressively demonstrated on the race track: in Fiorano, for example, the extra boost can be deployed 14 times over two laps, whilst the circuit characteristics in Mugello allow a total of 15 boost deployments on a single lap.
