Twenty-three examples were built between 1959 and 1961.<br \/>\nThe American Lucky Casner was particularly successful with his \u201ebirdcage\u201c Tipo 61: at the 1,000 km race at the N\u00fcrburgring in May 1960, Stirling Moss and Dan Gurney, with car number 5, won in torrential rain against the toughest competition. Just one year later, the Camoradi team (Casner Motor Racing Division) repeated the same feat with drivers Casner\/Gregory.
