The new model was presented to the public at the 1972 Geneva Motor Show, where it received widespread approval. The historical production figures clearly demonstrate this success: out of approximately 4,000 vehicles produced in the series, 1,200 were Spider models.<\/p>\n<p>Compared to its predecessor, the 206 GT, significant technical modifications were made, particularly in the engine department. For instance, the original aluminium engine block was replaced by a cast-iron construction. The characteristic features of this open-top version include the removable roof panel and the elaborately designed Daytona-style seats.
