Le nouveau v\u00e9hicule a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 au public au Salon de l'automobile de Gen\u00e8ve en 1972. Le succ\u00e8s commercial se refl\u00e8te dans les chiffres de production historiques : sur un total d'environ 4 000 unit\u00e9s produites de la s\u00e9rie, environ 1 200 sont sorties des cha\u00eenes de montage en version spider.<\/p>\n<p>Par rapport \u00e0 son pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur, le 206 GT, la s\u00e9rie 246 pr\u00e9sentait des modifications techniques significatives. Au niveau de la motorisation, le bloc moteur n'\u00e9tait plus en aluminium mais enti\u00e8rement en fonte.
