Ne furono costruiti solo due esemplari, ufficialmente come prototipi da corsa. Sotto l'elegante carrozzeria si nascondeva la tecnologia della 300 SLR da corsa a cielo aperto; la coup\u00e9 doveva essere utilizzata nelle corse come versione chiusa. Poich\u00e9 Mercedes-Benz termin\u00f2 il suo impegno nel motorsport dopo la stagione 1955, non fu pi\u00f9 utilizzata.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>La Uhlenhaut Coup\u00e9 era equipaggiata con il motore a otto cilindri in linea della Mercedes W196. Questo motore era dotato di controllo desmodromico delle valvole e produceva 302 CV a 7500 giri\/min. Inizialmente, la versione Coup\u00e9 della 300 SLR doveva essere utilizzata nelle gare di durata.
