Al Salone di Ginevra del 1972, il nuovo modello fu presentato al pubblico e riscosse vasto consenso. I numeri storici di produzione confermano chiaramente questo successo: dei circa 4.000 veicoli prodotti della serie, 1.200 uscirono dalla catena di montaggio come spider.<\/p>\n<p>Rispetto al modello precedente 206 GT, sono state apportate significative modifiche tecniche, in particolare nell'area della motorizzazione. Ad esempio, il blocco motore originale in alluminio \u00e8 stato sostituito da una costruzione in ghisa. Tra le caratteristiche distintive di questa versione spider figurano l'elemento del tetto rimovibile e i sedili in stile Daytona dal design elaborato.
